Torque Ford Aussie Hoops WizKids (4-10 years)

The Northside Wizards Torque Ford Aussie Hoops Wizkids program is designed to provide children with a fun and engaging way to develop their physical, social, and emotional skills through the sport of basketball, while also developing the skills and confidence to move into a competitive basketball and all the future opportunities it may offer.

Benefits of Junior Basketball:

  • Physical Fitness: Basketball is a fantastic way for children to stay active and healthy. It helps improve cardiovascular health, build muscle strength, and enhance coordination and balance.
  • Teamwork and Social Skills: Playing basketball teaches children the importance of working together as a team. They learn to communicate effectively, support their teammates, and develop strong social connections.
  • Self-Esteem and Confidence: Achieving goals, whether it’s making a basket or improving their skills, boosts children’s self-esteem and confidence. They learn to set and achieve personal goals, which is a valuable life skill.
  • Fun and Enjoyment: Above all, basketball is a fun and enjoyable sport. It provides a positive outlet for energy and stress, and children look forward to playing and improving their skills.

Our Program is separated into two groups, Our Rookies and All Stars

ROOKIES

This program is for our youngest players. It is primarily a motor-skill development program that exposes children between 4 and 7 years to bouncing, throwing, shooting and teamwork activities. Wiz Kidz Rookies is presented in a social, fun and supportive environment using primarily a game-based (as opposed to drill-based) approach on a modified court. This program is delivered in term blocks (8 Sessions) during the after-school and weekend time slots. Our Rookies Program information can be found via the link below

ALL STARS

This introduction to basketball program aims to teach children aged between 7 and 10 years the skills and rules of the game. Players will have fun learning how to shoot, dribble and pass as they begin to play actual games of basketball. Players are taught how to enjoy the sport and play the game fairly, simultaneously preparing them to join a team in our junior club competition. The program is delivered at multiple venues in term blocks (8 Sessions) on a modified court. It runs in the after-school and weekend time slots, during the school term but not during school holidays.
