Wiz Kidz Rookies program

(Boys and Girls – 4 to 7 years)

For our youngest players, this is primarily a motor-skill development program which exposes children between 4 and 7 years to bouncing, throwing, shooting and teamwork activities. Wiz Kidz Rookies is presented in a social, fun and supportive environment using primarily a game-based approach (as opposed to drill-based). This program is delivered in term blocks (approximately 8 weeks) on a modified court during the after-school or weekend time slots. All NEW participants receive the Wiz Kidz team pack which includes a basketball, reversible singlet and draw string-bag

Wiz Kidz All Starz program

(Boys and Girls – 7 to 10 years)

This introduction to basketball program aims to teach children between the ages of 7 and 10 years the skills and rules required to play the game. Players will have fun learning how to shoot, dribble and pass as they begin to play real games of basketball. Players are taught how to enjoy the sport and play the game fairly, simultaneously preparing them to join a team in one of our junior club competitions (see below). This program is delivered at multiple venues in term blocks (approximately 8 weeks) on a modified court in the after-school time slot, running during the school term but not during school holidays. All NEW participants will receive the Wiz Kidz team pack which includes a basketball, reversible singlet and draw-string bag. For a comprehensive list of venues, times and dates or to register for a All Starz program click here.

Under 9’s Wiz Kidz Competitions

(Boys and Girls – born 2013 or 2014)

This competition is for 7 and 8 year olds who want to start playing ‘real games’ of basketball. It is recommended that a player completes a term of the Rookies or Allstarz program prior to joining. The Wiz Kidz Compeition is participation based – no ladders, no grand finals, no awards – just children enjoying the game of basketball. Players are placed in teams with other Wiz Kidz players of similar age and ability. Each team is allocated a half-court for 35 minutes of skills training followed by a game (2 x 15 minute halves against another Wiz Kidz team. The program is delivered at the Northside Indoor Sports Complex, Zillmere, primarily on Saturday mornings in term blocks (approximately 8 weeks). It runs during the school term but not during school holidays. All NEW participants will receive the Wiz Kidz team pack which includes a basketball, reversible singlet and draw-string bag. For more information or to nominate for a team please click here.

BOYS Junior Club Competition

(2012 and above)

This is the ideal space to get involved if you have recently completed a Wiz Kidz program or your child falls outside of the Wiz Kidz age bracket, with weekly competitions for both new and experienced players. We offer boys competitions for Under 11’s, Under 13’s, Under 15’s, Under 17’s and Under 19’s. Each age bracket consists of multiple divisions to cater for competitive, developing and social players. The players represent their local club (based on geographical area) who compete against other clubs from the northside of Brisbane. Each team trains during the week in their catchment area with competition games being held on weekends at Boondall or one of our other central locations. For more information on how the club competition works or to register your interest with your club please click on this link.

The youngest and least experienced play on Saturdays or Sundays, with the older more competitive players competing on Friday nights.
